About us

A roofing company built around getting the numbers right

We install metal roofing for homeowners across Halifax and Nova Scotia. Our approach is simple: measure the roof properly, explain the options honestly, and do the work we said we would do.

Our story

Why we started

Anyone who has replaced a roof in this province knows the routine. You call several companies. Some never call back. Those that do quote wildly different numbers for what sounds like the same job, and none of them can quite explain the gap.

The reason is usually the same underneath: the quote was never based on a real measurement. It came from a rough look at the house, a rate per square, and an assumption about the pitch. When the crew arrives and the roof is bigger or more complex than assumed, the difference becomes your problem.

We built this business around removing that ambiguity. You outline your own roof on a satellite map and see an indicative range in minutes. We confirm those measurements in person before issuing anything final, so by the time you have a written quote, both of us are looking at the same roof.

We are not new to this. Roof Me is the metal roofing side of Work Bangers Inc., which began more than fifteen years ago as a family construction project near Montreal and grew into a Halifax company working across Nova Scotia. Those years covered roofing, siding, decks and full renovations. We chose to specialise in metal because it is the material that holds up best to what this coast does to a building.

That experience sits behind every quote we issue. We run experienced installation crews and have completed metal roofing projects on homes throughout Halifax and the surrounding communities.

Our mission

Make replacing a roof a decision you can actually evaluate

Homeowners should be able to understand what they are buying, what it costs, and why — before anyone asks for a signature. That is the whole of it.

Why homeowners trust us

Trust comes from specifics

Not from badges. Here is what we actually commit to on every project.

You see the measurements

The roof area, pitch and surface calculations behind your estimate are shown to you, not kept behind the quote.

Questions get real answers

Ask why something costs what it costs and you will get an explanation, including where we could reduce scope if budget is the constraint.

Surprises are surfaced immediately

Hidden damage is reported the day we find it, with photographs and the cost implication, before any additional work proceeds.

The quote is the price

Barring genuine hidden damage that we document and agree with you first, the number you accept is the number you pay.

The same crew, start to finish

Your project is not subcontracted onward to whoever is available that week.

We say no when appropriate

If your roof has years of life left, we will tell you that rather than sell you a replacement you do not need yet.

Our values

How we work

Precision before promises

We measure first and quote second. A number that arrives before anyone has looked at your roof is a guess, and guesses are what turn into change orders later.

Plain language

Roofing has a lot of jargon and it is often used to obscure what is actually being sold. We explain the system, the trade-offs and the cost in terms you can act on.

No pressure

Our quotes do not expire at midnight. Replacing a roof is a significant decision, and a company confident in its work does not need urgency tactics.

Own the outcome

If something is not right, we come back. Standing behind the work is part of the job, not a favour extended afterwards.

Respect the property

Your home is not a job site to us. Protection goes down before work starts, debris is managed as we go, and the site is left clean each day.

Honest fit

If metal is not the right answer for your roof or your budget, we will tell you. Selling someone the wrong roof costs more in reputation than the job is worth.

Our experience

Built for this climate specifically

Roofing in Nova Scotia is not the same job it is inland. Salt carries further than people expect, wind arrives from directions that catch poorly-detailed edges, and winter runs through repeated freeze-and-thaw rather than one long freeze.

That shapes the decisions that matter: which substrate and coating suit a coastal site, how much ice-and-water protection the roof needs and where, how flashing is formed at valleys and walls, and which fasteners will still be sound in twenty years. These are the details that separate a roof that performs from one that merely looks finished on handover day.

We are a registered and fully insured contractor with an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau, working with established suppliers including Abtco, Novik, Gentek, Marvin and Global. Where documentation matters to your project, we are glad to provide it on request.

Why metal roofing

Why we specialise in one material

Companies that install everything rarely install any of it exceptionally well.

Metal is the material best suited to what this coastline does to roofs. It sheds snow instead of holding it, resists wind uplift when detailed correctly, and does not degrade under UV the way asphalt granules do.

Concentrating on one material means our crews fit the same systems week after week. The flashing details, panel handling and fastening patterns become routine rather than occasional — and those details are where roofs succeed or fail.

It also means we can be straightforward about the trade-off: metal costs more up front than asphalt. Whether that is worth it depends on how long you plan to stay, the exposure of your site, and what you want the house to look like. We go through the detail on the metal roofing page.
